On the morning of October 23, Macao Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai visited the Macao International Technology Industry Centre (MITIC) to learn about the development and operations of its technology enterprises. He was accompanied by Secretary for Economy and Finance Wu Huixian, Chief of the Chief Executive's Office Chen Ge, and Economic and Technological Development Bureau Director Qiu Runhua, among others. Representing one of the first companies to move into the centre, AMicro Chairwoman Jiang Xinqiao presented the company's achievements since establishing operations in Macao, its business portfolio and its future plans.
01 Rooted in Macao: a chip-level full-stack intelligent robotics platform supporting the 1+4 industrial strategy
MITIC is a pilot project for Macao's technology research and development industrial park. Established under the coordination of the Economic and Technological Development Bureau and professionally operated by the Macao Institute of Industrial Technology, it focuses on artificial intelligence, integrated circuits, digital technology, biomedicine and aerospace technology. Its first cohort comprises 19 technology enterprises. Drawing on deep Macao–Hengqin cooperation, the centre supports the cross-border model of research in Macao and commercialization in Hengqin, connecting research, technology transfer, industrial deployment and international market expansion.
AMicro Technology (Macao) Sole Proprietor Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of AMicro Technology Co., Ltd. Established in Macao in 2022, it was recognized by the Macao SAR Government as a potential technology enterprise in 2024. The parent company was founded in Hengqin in 2014. It is the first joint-stock enterprise cultivated within the Cooperation Zone and its first robotics chip company recognized as a national specialized and innovative Little Giant. In 2016, its world-first dedicated robotics SLAM SoC succeeded on its first tape-out. The company has led two national key R&D projects, making it the zone's only enterprise to lead two such projects. It has filed more than 2,000 intellectual property applications and built a chip-level full-stack robotics platform integrating computing, perception and actuation.
In 2022, AMicro chose Macao as its gateway to international markets, following the model of research in Macao and commercialization in Hengqin. Over three years, its Macao company has worked on research projects with three universities, including the University of Macau. It has licensed three core patents from the University of Macau, jointly established a laboratory, and helped train more than 30 Macao master's and doctoral researchers.
02 Robotics + AI: full-stack capabilities across four application areas
AMicro develops integrated perception, decision-making and control technologies for intelligent robots across commercial services, industrial operations, embodied intelligence and home services. It serves eight of the world's ten leading intelligent cleaning robot brands. Customers include Xiaomi, Midea, Haier, ECOVACS, Philips and Anker Innovations. Its solutions support cleaning robots, service robots, companion robots, quadruped robot dogs, industrial AGVs and other devices.
In her presentation, Jiang Xinqiao outlined a three-step plan for the company's development in Macao. First, AMicro will recruit more talented young people from Macao and expand joint master's and doctoral training with local universities. Second, it will use Macao's platform connecting China and Portuguese-speaking countries to expand globally and continue increasing annual revenue over the next three years. Third, it will develop advanced high-compute chips for intelligent robots, with extensive participation from the Macao team, and use the centre's platform to launch initial applications in Macao.

03 Attracting and developing talent: research–industry collaboration nurtures Macao's next generation of innovators
Talent is the foundation of innovation. The first postdoctoral researcher at AMicro's postdoctoral research station came from the University of Macau, and more than 30 Macao researchers have been jointly trained through Hengqin–Macao programs. The company also participates in the centre's technology talent matching events, offering local young people roles in chip engineering, algorithm R&D and product operations. By coordinating recruitment, training and deployment, it gives Macao's young people opportunities to build careers in innovation.
04 Seizing opportunities to support Macao's economic diversification through innovation
During the visit, the Chief Executive praised the entrepreneurs' pioneering spirit. He said the SAR Government would fully support enterprises aligned with Macao's industrial development priorities, continue building platforms for growth and attract outstanding talent.
Jiang Xinqiao said AMicro would remain rooted in Macao and deepen collaboration with Hengqin, attract more young people from Macao into innovation, and bring core technology products made and branded in Macao to wider global markets, contributing to the city's economic diversification.
